BRACKNELL teenager Millie Yates has successfully defended her English Open title in taekwondo.

The 13-year-old Sandhurst School pupil managed to keep hold of the title she won in 2016 with another outstanding display of martial arts in Guildford recently.

Mum, Natalie, beamed: “Millie is thrilled and of course she has very proud parents.

“Millie’s power is her long, strong legs which make her kicks a force to be reckoned with.”

Millie’s success shows no sign of stopping and once again she came out on top in a national tournament to further enhance her reputation.

In addition to back-to-back English Open titles, she also won a recent gold medal in sparring at the British Taekwondo Federation National Championships in Hereford.

Millie trains at the TKBD School of Martial Arts in Bracknell where she is coached by Benji Oxtoby.

However, she has also taken on extra training with her uncle Nick Yates who works at The Ring in Bracknell.

Natalie added: “Nick helps train all ages in boxing and martial arts.

“This has been a massive benefit for Millie’s fitness and speed and we are delighted for her.”
