PINEWOOD Gymnastic Club will be sending their top, artistic youngsters to the British Championships in the coming weeks.

Annabelle Johnny and Chloe Holt proved they were up for the challenge at the South Region Grades Competition in Portsmouth recently.

Competing in National Grade 3, Annabelle came 4th on vault, 13th on bars, 4th on the beam, 8th on floor and a superb 1st place at range and conditioning.

That was enough to clinch third place overall for Annabelle who will now go on to represent the South Region at the British Championships in May.

Chloe followed that with a clean run for 9th place at vault, 6th on the bars, 7th on the beam, 10th on floor and 17th at range and conditioning for 12th position overall.

There was further success for Pinewood in Portsmouth thanks to Sonia Runciana and Emily Croll in the compulsory girls’ category.

Neither put a foot wrong with clean routines that saw Sonia claim 2nd place overall after coming 1st on the beam, 2nd at vault, 5th on the floor, 9th on the bars and 3rd at range and conditioning.

Sonia will now compete for the South Region team at the national finals next month.

Emily also qualified for the national finals as an individual gymnast thanks to finishing 6th overall. She placed 4th on the beam, 8th on the floor, 11th at vault, 12th on the bars and 5th at range and conditioning.
