LAUREN Barber skated her way to a free dance gold medal at the Solo Dance Tournament at Lee Valley Ice Centre.

The 11-year-old from Sandhurst came first with her first routine to A Ti Korita Vu/Angel of Wishes by Sanave with a score of 27.07, also a personal best.

She also gained a new personal best score and second place in the pattern dances section which included the Waltz and 22 Step for overall gold.

Lauren’s success has not come easy as the Year 6 pupil trains three mornings a week at Bracknell Ice Rink before classes start at Uplands School, plus two evenings and Sundays.

She has been coached by Natasha Hale since the age of seven and is now hoping for more success at the British Ice Dance Championships in Sheffield.
