SOUTH Berkshire men produced one of their best performances of the season to obliterate MBB&O Division One promotion rivals Bicester 8-1, writes Richard Ashton.

Sam Fox-Harvey took over at the top of the league’s goal-scoring chart by slotting twice to take his tally to 24 for the campaign, but it was Dan Ray – who scored five times – who took man-of-the-match honours.

Rob Badley got the other goal for South Berks, with Leo Graves’ effort merely a consolation for the hosts.

Fourth-placed South Berkshire are three points off second-placed Newbury & Thatcham 2nds, but have a game in hand. They host Phoenix & Ranelagh – one place below them – on Saturday.

Second-bottom South Berkshire 2nds remain in relegation trouble after they lost a five-goal thriller 3-2 at home to Ashford 2nds.

Craig Atkins and Rob Pace were on target for the hosts, but they fell to goals from Ryan Croxon, Robbie Grant and David Merchant.

In Division Three, South Berkshire 3rds beat Sonning 3rds 4-2, but South Berkshire 4ths lost 3-1 at home to Newbury & Thatcham 3rds in Division Five.

Rock bottom South Berkshire 5ths were beaten 5-3 by Oxford 7ths in Division Seven, but South Berkshire Terriers kept themselves in Division Eight West promotion contention with a 4-1 cruise against Witney 3rds.

South Berkshire Ladies lost a cracker 3-2 at Maidenhead 2nds in Premier One of the Trysports Three Counties League. They host relegation-threatened Wycombe 2nds this Saturday.

Second-bottom South Berkshire 2nds are all but relegated from Premier Two after they lost 1-0 at home to Thame.

In Division Three, South Berkshire 3rds improved their survival hopes with a hard-fought 1-0 success at home to second-bottom Harlow-High Wycombe.
