WASHINDI Trampoline Club began their season with their most successful regional competition to date in Milton Keynes.

The club took 40 competitors across 24 categories, with the participants aiming to qualify for further events later in the year.

For some competitors it was their first experience of a regional competition, but it was a great success with positive results across the board – the club produced 34 top 10 placings, including 16 in trophy positions and eight Golds.

For other competitors, it was a chance to showcase new skills and routines they had been working on during the past year.

British Gymnastics have also introduced a Range and Conditioning routine which the competitors were required to perform alongside their two Trampolining routines.

Washindi’s youngest competitor, Lilly Goswell, shone in the NDP 1 Age 7-8 category, finishing in second place at her first regional competition, while the Stapleton twins, Tom and Sydney, on their regional debut, both secured second place in the NDP 1 Age 11-12 Boys and NDP 1 Age 11-12 Girls categories respectively.

Washindi dominated in the NDP 3 Age 9-10 Boys, with Owen Whittall taking first place and teammate Samuel Qua close behind in second. For the girls in the NDP Age 11-12 category, there was success with Jessica-Mae Brown and Angelica Xanthoulis taking second and third places respectively.

Almost all competitors passed their range and conditioning routine, which is a requirement to be able to advance to further competitions in the season, and the club and competitors are readily preparing for their next regional event this month, in the hope of more favourable results.
