SOUTH Berkshire Ladies gave a good account of themselves, but still lost 1-0 to Maidenhead 2nds in a keenly-fought Three Counties League match at Cantley Park on Saturday.

The visitors are one of the strongest sides in the league and have been beaten only once this season.

Their narrow win lifted them to second place in the Premier 1 table, but they still trail unbeaten leaders Sonning by seven points with eight matches completed.

South Berkshire slip to sixth place, but will be looking to return to winning ways this Saturday when they travel to play the second-bottom club, Wycombe.

South Berkshire 2nds also failed to score, but kept a clean sheet themselves to earn a point at Thame.

It was their fourth draw in eight games, but four points leaves them down in 11th place in the Premier 2 standings.

They face a tough game this Saturday as they are home to third-placed Slough 2nds.

South Berkshire 4ths also drew a blank last weekend, losing 3-0 away to table-toppers Banbury 4ths in Division 4 and remain in bottom place ahead of their home fixture with the third club, Marlow 4ths.

Having suffered their first defeat a week earlier, South Berkshire Men returned to winning ways in MBBO Division 1 by defeating Bicester 3-0 with the goals coming from Sam Fox-Harvey, Rob Pace and Will Simpson.

Fox-Harvey has now scored 11 goals this season, the third highest in the division.

The team remain second in the standings on 18 points, the same as leaders Witney, but with an inferior goal difference.

This Saturday they are away to fifth-placed Phoenix & Ranelagh.

The club’s 2nds team are still pointless after losing 2-1 at Ashford 2nds, with Tony Heaver getting their goal.

Next up is a home fixture with OMT 2nds, the side immediately above them in the table but six points better off.

In Division 3, a goal from Richard Wallace earned South Berkshire 3rds a 1-1 home draw with Sonning 3rds, whose reply came from Chris Stone.

They are fifth in the table with 14 points, but only four points behind leaders Gerrards Cross. This week’s fixture sees them travel to play third-bottom Banbury 3rds.

In Division 5, South Berkshire 4ths lost 2-0 away to unbeaten leaders Newbury & Thatcham 3rds after conceding goals to Andy Hastings and Toby Walters.

They are sixth in the table ahead of this weekend’s game at home to Leighton Buzzard 2nds, who are fourth.

It’s now eight Division 7 defeats in a row for South Berkshire 5ths after a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Windsor 2nds.

South Berkshire Terriers drew 1-1 away to Witney 3rds.
