BRACKNELL boxer Charles ‘Boom-Boom’ Frankham is set to represent England in the Youth Men’s World Championships in Russia.

The rising 17-year-old star excelled during a recent selection camp in Sheffield to win a place in the England team.

Frankham, who will box in the 56kg category, has been following an intense training and sparring programme in a bid to put his name on the international map.

Frankham, who belongs to The Ring Boxing Club in Market Street, Bracknell tweeted: “I feel fit and ready for the World Championships. Going for gold. Russia here I come.”

The World Championships take place in St Petersburg between November 14-29.

And Frankham is going into them high on confidence after winning the English title last month He avenged his defeat to Nico Leivers last year by putting on a superb boxing performance in Liverpool to secure the ninth major title of his young career.

Meanwhile, The Ring continues to go from strength to strength, with seven young fighters from the club set to compete in the National Amateur Boxing Championships in the coming weeks.

The Ring, where Frankham’s father, John, is a coach, is the only club ever in Great Britain to boast four international gold medalists at the same time.
