WOKINGHAM Men retained the Jim Clarke trophy with a combined 204-193 victory following their two-legged tie with Suttons.

In the second match, Wokingham prevailed 122-112, with the top rink for the victors skipped by Paul Melhuish, along with Paul Graham, Alex Thomson and Alan Jeynes (30-17).

In the Kennet League, third-placed Wokingham A edged past Royal Household 78-74 in Division One, winning two of the four rinks and drawing another one.

In Division Two, Wokingham B defeated Sunningdale 95-53, winning three of the four rinks, with the winning rink for Sunningdale made up of Steve Hawthorne, Ken Johnson, Ray Jones and skip Don Allston (19-18).

Wokingham then beat Great Hollands 85-65. They again won three of the four rinks, with Brian Rammell (18-16) leading the only successful rink for the beaten side.

Wokingham C suffered an heavy 87-55 reverse against a strong University of Reading side in Division Three.

In the Kennet LX League, Wokingham A lost 68-25 to Suttons in Division One, with their only winning rink skipped by Bob Thompson along with Len Cooke and Martin Brailey (14-11).

Colin Musto, Alan Herbert and Barry Woolley (24-14) were the only winning triple as Wokingham B lost 48-45 to Palmer Park.

In Division Two, Wokingham C were edged out 51-50 by Suttons B, although Eric Nathan, Claude Linnell and Keith Hutchings won 24-19.

Wokingham D lost 64-49 to Three Mile Cross B in Division Three.

In the Thames Valley Ladies League, Wokingham Acorns won a thrilling game 45-44 at Great Hollands.

The triple of Joy Holmes, Teresa O’Connor and Marion Evans (19-8) put in the best performance.

  •  IN THE Kennet League, Sunningdale were defeated 78-74 at Bracknell, with the home side taking a 10-4 points victory.

The highest-scoring rink for Sunningdale comprised Steve Hawthorne, Colin Shefford, Adrian Thomas and Derek Cooper (skip).

Sunningdale A beat Royal Household 53-47 shots (8-2 on points) in the Kennet LX League, with their highest scoring being rink Les Green, Reg Nutley, Dennis Bailey (skip).

Sunningdale B lost 56-40 (9-1) at Great Hollands, where their only drawn rink was made up of Les Mathias, Hawthorne and skip Don Allston. Henry Bone (22-11) led the most successful Great Hollands rink.

  • IN THE Thames Valley Ladies League, Great Hollands Linnets beat Maiden Erlegh 50-46 for a 6-2 points victory, despite only Jo Sanders skipping a winning rink (35-6).

The Wrens won 57-50 (9-1) against Wokingham Oakapples. Sheila Strickland skipped the highest-winning rink (24-19), with Shelia Ledbury (16-14) and Carolyn Lofthouse (17-17) leading the others.

In the Kennet LX League, Great Hollands A were hammered 77-31 by Desborough (10-0), while the C team gained inter-club bragging rights with a 58-38 (58-38) success against the club’s D team. Edwin Readings (20-7) skipped the highest-winning rink.

Great Hollands duo Sanders and Sheila Lee are the new Berkshire Pairs champions following a 24-10 victory against Morgan Merryweather and Catherine Wooldridge.
