BRACKNELL youngster Millie Yates has won a gold medal in sparring at the British Taekwondo Federation National Championships in Hereford.

The 13-year-old green belt had to fight two opponents before retaining her title.

The Sandhurst School pupil also won a bronze medal in special technique, an impressive achievement in a field of 20 competitors.

It has been a memorable year for Millie, who earlier won gold in taekwondo at the English Open in April.

She fought off stiff competition from some of the best young fighters in the country to land the top prize.

The Bracknell star was placed in a five-strong group of fighters of a similar size.

She recorded three impressive victories which was enough to win the gold medal at the national event in Guildford.

Yates trains at the TKBD School of Martial Arts in Bracknell where she is coached by Benji Oxtoby.
