WOKINGHAM A performed well to beat Maidenhead Thicket 75-69 in their Kennet League Division One.

The top rink for Wokingham was skipped by Neil Jones along with Alan Symondson, Andy Franklin and Martin Brailey who won by eight shots.

In the Kennet LX League Division One, Wokingham suffered their first defeat of the season with a 51-46 reverse at Prospect Park.

The only winning triple for Wokingham was skipped by Paul Aylott along with Pat Cleary and Mike Drinkwater. They won 16-13.

Wokingham B were thrashed 64-32 by Suttons, but in Division Two, Wokingham C edged past Woodley B 46-42.

In Division Three, Wokingham D were edged out 52-49 by Suttons C.

Keith Roberts at skip along with Terry Cornell and Hugh Morris were the top triple for Wokingham, winning 24-15.

In the Thames Valley Ladies League, Wokingham Acorns lost 67-43 to Great Hollands, but rebounded with a 50-44 success against Maiden Erlegh.

In the County Mixed Double Fours, Wokingham lost 47-46 at Island Bohemian.

In the first leg of the Jim Clarke trophy, Wokingham won a thrilling game against Suttons 82-81.

Wokingham travelled to Suttons on a beautiful June afternoon to play the first leg of the Jim Clarke Trophy, played between both clubs for a number of years. As is usually the case when these two clubs play each other, it was a monumental task and Wokingham came away the winners, winning by 82 shots to 81.

It is fair to say that a one shot advantage going into the second leg in Wokingham in late July means there is still all to play for. Both teams won on two rinks and the top Wokingham rink was skipped by Jim Rudd along with Martin O’Connor, Alan Herbert and Eric Nathan who won 28-16.

  • SUNNINGDALE took two points to Abingdon's seven and Prospect Park's three in the first leg of their annual tri-tournament. The winning rink for Sunningdale was Janet Spencer, Colin Shefford, John Forster and John Turner(skip).

In the Kennet LX League, the A team beat Desborough B 55-47, taking eight points to Desborough’s two. The highest scoring rink for Sunningdale was Tony Parsons, Ray Jones and Forster(skip).

Sunningdale beat Three Mile Cross 54-36 in the Thames Valley Ladies League, earning eight points to their opponents’ two. The highest scoring rink was made up of Pam Kiddell, Maureen Webb, Anna Allston (skip).

In the County triples Sunningdale Ladies beat Maidenhead Thicket.

  • GREAT Hollands beat the Royal County of Berkshire Bowls Association President's team 126-122 in a Bannerette match.

In the Kennet league, Great Hollands lost 78-70 at Caversham with Dave Sutherby (25-8) skipping the only wining rink, Ray Furnell (15-15), George Harris (17-24) and Tony Morton (13-31) skipped the others.

In the Kennet LX League, Great Hollands won only one of the rinks – George Harris’s 27-13 – in a 60-55 defeat at Royal Household.

The B team thrashed Wraysbury 65-39 with Fred Payne (27-11), Henry Bone (15-12) and Tony Morton (23-16) skipping the rinks.
