PINEWOOD Gymnastics Club’s artistic girls shone at the South Regional Compulsory Grade 3 event in Southampton.

The five-strong squad saw Nyah Reddyhough record the top score of the day on vault with 13.8 to take first place. Team-mate Sasha Poole was a close second.

Sophie Prior took first place on the bars with 12.95.

The girls competed strongly on the beam with Dixie Lindsay placing second and Reddyhough third.

Pinewood’s gymnasts produced the goods on the floor and clean routines saw Helena Vinall claim top spot with 11.85 ahead of Reddyhough in second.

Poole and Vinall also finished second in the range and conditioning.

That means Linsday came second overall ahead of Reddyhough (third), Poole (fourth), Vinall (fifth) and Prior (sixth).

As a result, Lindsay and Vinall qualified to represent the Southern Region at the National Finals in Stoke next month.

The level five gymnasts were next to compete and they didn’t disappoint with Sonia Runcianu taking first place on bars with a massive 13.15 and also vault with 13.8. She also came second on floor and third in range and conditioning.

Emily Crolll finished first on beam with 12.45, second on range and conditioning and third on floor.

Their impressive performances were enough to secure overall first for Runcianu and second for Croll.
