TWO Bracknell boxers will aim to conquer the world when they fight in Russia next week.

Charles Frankham and Jerry Ray, who box out of The Ring, in the town centre, will don the gloves representing England at the Junior World Championships in St Petersburg.

The pair have been selected following a sensational year which has seen the pair of them win national junior titles.

Frankham, 16, who will compete in the Under 52kg category, also went on to win the European Championships earlier in the summer, becoming only the seventh English fighter to do so.

He is unbeaten in 36 fights and is ranked number one in the world at his level.

Ray, 14, will fight in the U54kg event, having also won a gold medal in the Three Nations clash against Scotland and Wales earlier this year.

The two fighters – who are sponsored by A4 metals, Omar Park Homes and Anderson Roofing – train up to twice a day and five times a week and will be hoping to continue their phenomenal success on the biggest stage they have fought on.

A record 407 boxers from 46 countries will compete at the event, an increase from the 351 who fought at the last contest back in 2013.

The Junior World Championships were launched in 2001 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and take place every two years.

This year’s competition lasts from September 2 to September 13.
