The Yellamen had not tasted victory in the Hellenic Premier Division since their 5-0 thrashing of Bracknell Town on August 26.

But they returned to winning ways against basement boys Abingdon thanks to three goals in the final 15 minutes.

It took the Yellamen until the 38th minute to make the breakthrough when Matt Jones scored from the penalty.

Abingdon equalised on the hour mark and the game looked to be heading for a stalemate until a flurry of late Ascot goals.

Rob Gier restored their lead on 76 minutes and Jermaine Roache and Jon Keough made sure of the points late on.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Chris Adams was sent off as Bracknell Town crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Kidlington.

Trailing 1-0 at half time, it soon got worse for Robins as Adams committed a foul in the box and Kiddy scored the resultant penalty.

A moment of madness then saw the visitors reduced to 10 men as Adams was dismissed for allegedly striking an opponent.

Joel Davidson took over in goal and the first thing he had to do was pick the ball out of the back of the net as Kiddy wrapped up the win with their third.

Sandhurst Town were beaten 5-1 by Westfield in round two of the Southern Combination Cup.
