Rory Greenslade-Jones’ side had been beaten by both Weston-super-Mare and Hornets in their two previous National Three South West encounters and travelled to a Newton Abbot side who had won their two previous home games, including a stunning victory against newly-crowned champions Redingensians.

However, the Lily Hill Men found their form in Devon and took a useful 19-7 lead into half-time courtesy of tries from wing Ian Burch, prop Nick Owens and hooker Stuart Silvester. George Owen converted twice.

And they went on to secure a bonus-point win thanks to further tries from Ollie Taylor, Barry Dwyer and Burch, with Owen’s impressive kicking adding six more points to the tally.

The result leaves Bracknell fourth in the table, but they will have the chance to leapfrog Old Centralians when the two sides clash in the final game of the season at Lily Hill Park on Saturday (3pm).

However, if Bracknell were to lose, they could finish as low as sixth were Brixham and Hornets both able to win convincingly.

The Lily Hill Men’s Berkshire rivals Redingensians sealed the title on Saturday with a 37-7 demolition of second-placed Exmouth.

Bracknell were one of just three teams to topple the impressive Old Bath Road side this season, overcoming the champions 22-13 back in January.
