The Thorns had been thrashed 32-5 on their travels back in October, but showed how far they have come as a side to edge to a third straight friendly victory.

In a 13-a-side contest, the visitors took an early lead when Hannah Ward went over the line for an unconverted score.

However, Crowthorne hit back shortly after with a five-pointer of their own, although the Blues went back in front courtesy of a try from Niki Paton.

The two sides continued to trade scores after the break, and it was ultimately the Thorns who took the glory, bagging four tries by the end of the game in an excellent performance.

Back-of-the-match for Crowthorne was kicker Holly Bentley, while Jess Rees was named as the outstanding forward after a display of controlled agression.

The Thorns will look to complete a seasonal double when they travel to Witney on Sunday (2pm), having hammered the Oxfordshire side 38-12 at the Crows Nest earlier in the season.

Crowthorne Ladies are aiming to play sufficient friendly games by the end of the season to allow them to enter a league for the 2015/16 campaign.

They are also due to take on Southampton, Lewes and Teddington later this season.
