Greenslade-Jones and his players were expected to be among the front runners in National Three South West.

But back-to-back defeats to fierce local rivals Redingensians and leaders Exmouth stopped them in their tracks and left them languishing mid-table.

The Lily Hill men bounced back from that double blow on Saturday by winning 34-17 at Barnstaple to leave them in seventh position and 10 points adrift of Exmouth.

However, Greenslade-Jones insists all is not lost in their quest for promotion: “Last weekend was a vast improvement from the previous two results,” declared the Welshman.

“We hit a bit of a speed bump but we found some momentum again. We put a lot of phases together and we know if we can go through the phases we will score points.

“We ran Exmouth very close the previous week when we both scored five tries. But we haven’t been firing on all cylinders, though I am sure that will change from now on.” And he added: “We know we can beat anybody in this league on our day and the challenge now is to go on a winning run.

“We want teams at the top to start beating each other. If that happens and we rack up some wins ourselves, we will be back amongst the top positions.

“Redingensians lost to Hornets recently so if we beat Brixham the weekend after next you never know what can happen.

“We’ve still got to play all the top teams again so it is wide open really.

“The most important thing is we build up some momentum and play with more confidence.

“We’re looking at a 20% improvement in certain areas of the pitch to give us the edge.” Bracknell hope to continue their climb up the table when they host Bournemouth at Lily Hill Park this Saturday (3pm ko).

Bournemouth sit one place below Bracknell in the table and Greenslade-Jones admitted: “They haven’t been brilliant, but nor have we in recent weeks.

“But we will take confidence from our performance against Exmouth and our win in Barnstaple which came after a four hour coach journey.

“We should expect to win on Saturday but you can take nothing for granted in this league.

“We will be looking to impose ourselves on Bournemouth from the very off. We are scoring a lot of tries at the momet but we are also conceding a few and it is one area we need to tighten up.

“We’ll be working hard on our defence and one versus one tackling.

“Expectations arer high at the club and every player is working and training extremely hard.”
