STUART Silvester scored two tries to help Bracknell RFC pick up a first win of 2016 with a come-from-behind 17-13 success at rock bottom Eton Manor.

Rory Greenslade-Jones’s side had suffered six straight National Three London & South East defeats prior to the game, although they had shown signs of improvement in a narrow loss to Chichester two weeks previously.

Bracknell welcomed Dan Ap Dafydd back into the starting line up while Chris Brember switched to the wing.

In the pack Joe Pickett started at loose head while Lachlan Valentine moved to No 8.

However, the winless hosts had the best of a scrappy first half and despite Silvester’s score, Manor led 13-5 at the break.

The Lily Hill men fought back strongly in the second period, though, and a Chris Brember try along with Silvester’s second helped them secure a victory which all but guarantees their survival.

Bracknell remain 11th in the league but have opened up a 20-point lead over third-bottom Gravesend.

Bracknell do not have a game this weekend, and return to action at home to Wimbledon on Saturday, March 19.

BRACKNELL 2nds produced a stunning second-half performance as they obliterated Thatcham 2nds 71-8 in their BB&O One game at Lily Hill Park.

Despite Bracknell leading 19-8 at half time, it had actually been the visitors who spent much of the opening 40 minutes on the front foot.

However, the home side turned on the style in the second half as they ran in tries from all angles to maintain their position at the top of the table.

BRACKNELL 3rds were beaten 33-14 at Wallingford 2nds.
