BRACKNELL’S two-match winning streak came to an abrupt end after a 45-16 loss at promotion-chasing East Grinstead in National Three London & South East.

Liam Hemming kicked the visitors in front only for an East Grinstead try, converted by former Bracknell player Liam Prescott, to give the home side a 7-3 lead.

The home side then crossed the line twice more in quick succession to leave Bracknell, who saw Hemming slot another penalty, trailing 21-6.

Hemming, however, then grabbed a try himself to cut the lead to 21-11 at the break.

But East Grinstead pulled away after the break with two more tries to lead 33-11.

Sakeasi Yabia did notch another unconverted Bracknell try, but the home side added two more before the death including a penalty try.

Bracknell host Shelford at Lily Hill Park this Saturday (2.15pm).

Crowthorne RFC

CROWTHORNE RFC suffered a 20-13 home defeat to Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier title-chaser Gosford All Blacks at Arborfield on Saturday.

An early penalty gave the visitors the lead but Crows hit back when debutant and man-of-the-match Oli Powell touched down before Dougie Charman slotted the conversion.

Charman also landed a penalty soon after and Crows led 10-3 at the break.

All Blacks came storming out for the second half and two quick tries, one of them converted, put them 15-10 up.

Crows did respond with another Charman penalty, but All Blacks notched their third penalty in the closing stages.

However, stern Crows defence denied All Blacks a fourth score as Karl Roberts’ hosts held on for their third bonus point of the season against a top-three side.

Crows remain fifth in the table and travel to struggling Hungerford this Saturday (2.15pm).
