Henry Billiard put in a great day’s work to take gold in the red belt section, while Phoebe Shea also put on an impressive display to outfight a bigger opponent in the final to grab her gold.

The yellow belt section saw numerous entrants from the top clubs across the county but Jay Bennett put in a masterclass to land a silver medal.

Emma Meyerhoff starred in her section to take gold while Deacon launched her yellow belt career with a bronze.

The good form continued on Sunday with teams of three competing in the Bishop’s Stortford Team event.

A lightweight team comprising of Noah Jones, Jay Bennett and Toby Trafford put in a great day’s work to take two wins that included a thrilling victory against a very capable Core team.

They lost out in the semi-final against the eventual gold medallists, but recovered to take bronze.

The boys’ heavyweight team was James Widman, Kesley Gibson and Etienne Keller and Widman excelled as the most experienced of the three to take victory in his battles with a range of beautiful throws.

Keller and Gibson also battled hard against tough opponents to help secure a bronze for the team.

The girls’ heavyweight team comprised of Emma Meyerhoff and Caitlyn Clark which put them in the difficult position of fighting one person down.

However, despite starting every match already one down on the scoreboard, they both excelled to take silver.
