The event was organised by England Wado-Kai and included clubs from from Luxembourg, Ireland and Portugal, as well as English rivals from Lancashire, Worcester, Birmingham, Leicester and Bristol.

And while competition was extremely high on the day, Crowthone Wado came away with a strong haul of medals.

Oaklands Junior School pupil Amy Clayton, aged 10, secured the gold medal at orange belt.

She also picked up a bronze in the pairs competition alongside teammate April Palmer.

April, aged 8, also attends Oaklands and is an orange belt.

There was a further gold medal for Crowthorne’s Cameron Lancaster.

The 12-year-old Edgbarrow School pupil and brown belt performed superbly on the day.

Brown belt Sam Miklos, from the same school, picked up a silver medal, while 10-year-old Nick Burt won a bronze.

The talented youngsters posed with their medals last Saturday morning.

Crowthorne Wado Karate Club Sensei, Barry Wilkinson, 8th Dan, beamed: “Well done to all of the club members for their success in the tournament.” Training takes place every Saturday morning at Edgbarrow Sports Centre from 10am onwards. The first lesson for junior beginnners is free and there is no need to book.
