A small group attended the prestigious and hotly-contested British Schools Championships in Walsall and they did the club proud.

Dan Franklin clinched the silver medal following an excellent display while Jonny Northover and Terri Gough both picked up a bronze.

At the same time, a number of older Pinewood players took part in the annual Ingelmunster Competition in Belgium.

Kiera Bateman fought exceptionally well and claimed the gold medal in her weight group.

Her solid performance culminated with an impressive throw in the golden score of the final contest.

Jade Eccles also put in another good day’s work to secure the silver medal after one mistake in her final cost her the gold.

Holly Eccles fought well before eventually losing in a bronze medal fight.

Both Oliver Fricker and Chris Thorne fought in the fiercely competitive Under 81kg category and were unfortunate to narrowly miss out on a bronze medal each.

Meanwhile, Jason Woolerton returned to competition for the first time in more than five years and was subjected to some interesting refereeing decisions he was sadly forced to withdraw due to a back injury.

However, his easy and effortless style was still evident on the day.

The English Open took place in Sheffield recently and Olivia Spellman was the lone Pinewood competitor.

She performed exceptionally well and came away with the bronze in the Junior section.
