Wokingham & Bearwood’s junior team of Lillie Browne on Petarco, Rachel Cawley on Moortown Juicy Lucy, Jessica Stephens on Zilona and Rachael Bomphrey on Midnight Playboy successfully held off all the other junior teams in British Riding clubs Area Six to win the competition.

Their victory now qualifies them to compete in the British Riding Club’s National Intermediate Championships at Bury Farm in Buckinghamshire on May 3, when they will be up against the winning teams from the UK’s other regional tournaments.

After two rounds of jumping, the equal first teams would normally head into a jump off, but this team did so well that they were ahead of all the others teams after the two rounds and so no jump off was required.

There was further success for Wokingham & Bearwood when they won the British Riding Club’s Area Six Novice Show Jumping Qualifier recently.

Their victorious team consisted of Maddison Perries on Humbug, Lucas Peries on A Dream Within, Megan Day on Cluoin Cairn Mirah and Alice Day on Harlequin Billy Elliot.

Again, there were no equal first teams after the two rounds of jumping and so Wokingham & Bearwood did not have to jump off, and now look forward to the KBIS British Riding Clubs National Novice Show Jumping Championships at Hartpury College near Gloucester on April 5.

Wokingham & Bearwood have such a good junior membership that they entered another junior team - Charlotte Payne on White Smoke, Ele Sparks on Midge, Ella Stevenson on Evensong IV and Emily Leather on Lady Rosa.

They also performed extremely well and secured rosettes for third place.

Meanwhile, Wokingham & Bearwood’s seniors did not get left out at the Novice Area qualifier and were equal first with two other clubs after two rounds of show jumping, and had to win a jump off to secure second place.

The team has now qualified for the same National Show Jumping Championships at Hartpury College.

Senior team members were Sarah Gee on Bertie, Sarah Thomas on Davidoff, Beccie Van Oostrum on Shafts Johnny Ringo and Jo Ridgeley on Amber IX.

Wokingham & Bearwood Show Jumping chef d’equipe, Lisa Oram, beamed: “I am looking forward to accompanying the teams to both of these championships and the possibility of bringing a National Show Jumping title back to Berkshire”.

Another team were also entered for this senior novice qualifier, Rebecca Lloyd on Suerra Challenge, Sam Hadingham on Milo, Bob Mauchline on Push Up Percy and Kelly Robinson on Rocky’s Profiles.

They finished an impressive third from more than 20 teams entered.
