However, fresh from being crowned the Benross ‘Be Our Tour Pro’ champion, the 47-year-old says she cannot wait to get back next year and defend her title.

Freeman was one of 15 amateur golfers that won the chance to get a glimpse into the life of a professional golfer by being selected to be Tour pros by the golf club manufacturer.

After spending the night in a luxury hotel and being wined and dined, she had the chance to play with her very own caddy at the prestigious West Hill Golf Club.

And Freeman (pictured right) made sure to mark the occasion in style, not only beating the competition to the top prize but then leaving via helicopter – much to her delight.

“You never quite know what to expect going into things like that but it was all amazing,” said Freeman, who is a member at Sand Martins Golf Club.

“There were some nerves because I wanted to go and play well so that was important to me. I definitely wasn’t expecting to win though.

“I’ve never won anything like it before but now I get to come back and do it all over again, which is unbelievable.

“It’s a lovely course and it exceeded my expectations in terms of how they set it up. The thing that pleasantly surprised me was how fantastic everyone was at welcoming us.” After purchasing some Benross clubs Freeman activated her warranty and, much to her surprise, found out she had won the chance to be a Tour pro.

“I wasn’t expecting to end up where I did,” added Freeman, who also got to pick the brains of eight-time Ryder Cup legend Neil Coles.

“I bought a set of clubs, and entered the draw.

“They asked us to write a few words why we should be chosen and I said because you should have a few ladies.

“It was a bit cheeky but it worked and I got the chance, which was incredible. I knew a little bit about the competition so when I found out it was incredibly exciting.

“It was a great chance to meet so many new people and the way they treated us was incredible. You really get a sense you are being treated like a pro and being well looked after.” Everything at Benross Golf is aimed towards the Club Golfer.
