Six TeamGym teams and three Micro teams were entered in the event and they competed well against teams from all around the United Kingdom.

Two new Level Four teams took part in the Team Gym Event on Saturday and both the girls and boys team achieved Gold Medals with a first-place finish.

Their display of aerial skill and daring acrobatic stunts wowed the crowd and helped them achieve top spot.

In the Level Three Youth Competition, three Pinewood teams competed and it was the boys who starred as they also sealed first spot, with a morning high score of 16.55 for their floor routine.

The girls also did well, with Team A securing second place and Team B finishing fifth in the close event.

The last Pinewood team to compete on Saturday was the Junior Mixed side and they followed the order of the day as they secured gold in the National Level Two Mixed.

Saturday’s impressive form was matched on Sunday as all three teams competing achieved Gold medals to round off a fantastic weekend for Pinewood.

The success followed on from the British Championships that 13 Pinewood Tumblers travelled to recently, which was held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

It was the first time on such a big stage for all of the Age 9-10 girls and boys but they performed admirably to do their club proud.

Jack Williams finished first in the boys, ahead of Alexander Cowen in second spot.

Qualification saw Amia Topp finish 10th, Georgina Elliot finish sixth and Kitty Mair in fourth spot.

With just eight progressing to the finals, Topp was unlucky to miss out but Mair finished in fifth spot, whilst Elliot finished eighth.

The Age 11-12 was a more serious affair with the competition acting as a trial for the World Championships in Florida in November.

William Cowen excelled in the boys category to take first place in Saturday’s qualification, before holding his nerve on Sunday to win with a huge margin of 5.4.

In the Age 13-14 category, Pinewood’s third British Champion arrived in the form of Dominic Menash, who performed fantastically to win by a narrow margin of 0.1.

Zach Middleton then won his first medal in the Age 15-16 category with a superb performance over both days to secure victory.

The Pinewood success continued in the Senior Girls as Lucie Colebeck secured top spot by 1.4, but the win was marred by an injury to her fellow competitor from Pinewood.

Yasmin Taite looked a certainty to be selected for Florida, but she snapped her achilles on take off for her final element to end her dream.

The following weekend, all five Pinewood champions travelled to Lilleshall as they looked to secure their place on the plane to Florida.

Another sterling performance from the five ensured that they’ll be heading abroad in November.
