THOMAS Bjorn hit a Wentworth course record in the opening round of the BMW PGA Championship today (Thursday). The Dane carded an astounding 10 under par 62, describing it as 'the best round of his life.'

Heavy rain disrupted the opening round of BMW PGA Championship

In a bogey-less round, Bjorn was three-under for the opening nine holes and seven-under for the back nine, including an eagle three on hole 12.

Play was temporarily abandoned earlier in the day at Wentworth because of heavy rain.

With players still out on the course, Bjorn is leading the field, with Shane Lowry two shots behind on eight under and Justin Walters and Gary Stal tied on five under par.
