ACADEMY defenders Tom McIntyre and Gabriel Osho have signed new deals with Reading FC.

The 19-year-old pair have been rewarded for their rapid rise through the club's youth set-up with new contracts until summer 2020.

McIntyre, a Scottish youth international, has recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines and is likely to play a regular part in Scott Marshall's Under 23s during the remainder of the campaign.

Fellow teenager Osho had made an impressive 16 starts for the U23s this season, many of which as captain, as well as featuring in Checkatrade Trophy clashes over the past two years.

They are the latest Academy graduates to be handed long-term deals after Andy Rinomhota, Omar Richards and Josh Barrett.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Bond’s future at Reading FC looks to be over after he extended his loan with Peterborough United until the end of the season.

Bond’s contract with Royals also expires at the end of the campaign and he is unlikely to be offered a new deal.

The 24-year-old keeper made only 14 Reading starts after joining from Watford in summer 2015.

He endured an injury-hampered loan spell with Gillingham last season, but has played 27 games for League One play-off chasers Posh this term.

Bond said: “I’m happy that everything has been sorted and I can concentrate on helping this club reach its targets. I always wanted to stay and I am really pleased that it is done.

“I have played a lot of games this season and that is always important when you make a loan move.

“We are in a good position in the league, are doing well in the cup competitions and am really looking forward to the second half of the season.”
