JON Dadi Bodvarsson has completed his highly anticipated move to Reading FC from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It was revealed earlier today that the 25-year-old forward would undertake a medical at Hogwood Park after Royals agreed a fee with Wolves.

A source close to Reading FC said Bodvarsson completed his medical at around 4pm today.

The 25-year-old striker then officially put pen to paper on an three-year deal this afternoon.

Royals boss Jaap Stam said: "Jón is the type of player who can play in our system and he is able to play in a number up different positions within that system too - up front as a central striker, as one of a two or as a winger.

“He’s a strong runner, he’s tall but he’s very comfortable on the ball, he’s got some pace…so he’s definitely a player who will be a useful addition to our squad.”

Ipswich Town were frontrunners to land the 6ft 3ins striker's signature after manager Mick McCarthy missed out on Royals' forward Dominic Samuel, who looks set to complete a permanent switch to Blackburn Rovers.

But Stam beat the tractor boys to land Bodvarsson's signature.

Bodvarsson, who played in the Euro 2016 match which saw England crash out of the competition, made a total of 42 appearances for Wolves last season.

However, 20 of those came from the bench and he only mustered three goals, including one on his debut against Rotherham, in a disappointing campaign.

The 25-year-old was reportedly given an extended break over the summer after playing nearly two years of continuous football.

New Chief Executive Ron Gourlay added: “I am delighted to bring Jón to Reading Football Club on a contract that keeps him here until 2020.

"He is a forward who, despite only recently turning 25, has already earned in excess of 200 appearances whilst experiencing regular first team football across a range of different European domestic leagues – including the Championship.

"He also arrives at Reading with proven international pedigree and we now look forward to him making an impact at the Madejski.”
