THIS is Reading FC's strongest line-up, according to statistics.

Unsurprisingly, Ali Al-Habsi who keeps his place between the sticks, being the only player to feature in every single minute of every Championship game this season.

The 35-year-old shot-stopper has an average rating of 7.02 and has picked up five man-of-the-match awards.

The Oman international was also voted Royals Player of the Season for the second year in a row.

Manager Jaap Stam enjoys having three centre-backs in defence and Liam Moore, Tyler Blackett and skipper Paul McShane are the pick of the bunch, according to whoscored.com

Moore has been a mainstay in the Royals' back-line and immediately became a fan's favourite following his switch from former Premier League champions Leicester last summer.

His confidence and composure on the ball, matched with his determination and ambition, have been key influences in Reading's success.

Meanwhile Blackett, who joined from Manchester United last summer, had a nervy start to the campaign but has picked up in recent months and found himself one of the first names on Stam's team sheet.

Defender Tyler Blackett also makes the starting XI.

Dutchman Stam likes to play with wing-backs and, despite starting the season as a second-striker, Gareth McCleary gets the nod over Chris Gunter.

McCleary scored nine league goals and created another nine after recovering from an injury-plagued spell under former bosses Steve Clarke and Brian McDermott.

Jordon Obita wins a place on the left, with an average rating of 6.75.

In midfield, it is Dutchman Joey van den Berg who commands the holding role in the team, with Danny Williams and Liam Kelly ahead of him.

Kelly, 21, was playing for non-league Bath City last season but has enjoyed a sensational campaign under Stam and has established himself as a first-team regular with a world of potential.

John Swift, who technical director Brian Tevreden described as Reading's star player, sits just behind the striker.

His Reading career got off to a sensational start when he scored on his debut against Preston North End back in August and the 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength.

Swift has scored eight goals for the Royals to date, including several long-range stunners.

Finally, it's April's Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Yann Kermorgant who leads the line for Stam's best team.

Stam has certainly got the best out of the veteran striker this year and the Frenchman has racked up 18 league goals to date.

He has been praised not only for his work going forward, but also his determination to get back and defend.

The 35-year-old has scooped eight Man-of-the-Match awards and is Reading's highest rated player with an average of 7.41.
