Spencer Dinwiddie held his nerve, netting a one-handed jumper with just one second on the clock to lift the Brooklyn Nets to a 101-100 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

The Pistons seemed set to end a four-game losing run after Andre Drummond had given them the narrowest of leads with five seconds remaining but Dinwiddie drove to the basket and got off a shot that found its target just as the buzzer sounded.

That capped a 22-point haul for the former Pistons point guard, with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson contributing 21 and DeMarre Carroll adding 16.

Kyrie Irving was unable to prevent the Boston Celtics succumbing to a third straight defeat despite an individual haul of 40 points as the Eastern Conference leaders lost 103-95 to the Orlando Magic.

Irving was absent for Thursday’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday due to a left shoulder niggle and although he was in sparkling form on his return, Orlando clinched just their third win in 20 games.

Elfrid Payton poured in 22 points while Evan Fournier added 19, with Aaron Gordon’s double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds also proving crucial for the Magic.

Jordan Clarkson bagged 29 points and 10 assists as the Los Angeles Lakers pulled away down the stretch to overcome the New York Knicks 127-107.

The San Antonio Spurs’ 14-game home winning streak came to an end after a 94-86 defeat by the Indiana Pacers.
