The Moles were in scintillating form as they marched into the quarter-finals of the Reading Senior Cup – one of three knockout competitions they remain involved in.

They are also in the Bluefin Challenge Cup and the Flying Press Floodlit Cup.

With Binfield sitting sixth in the Hellenic League Premier Division, Herridge has admitted his focus is on securing silverware.

He commented: “I said before the game that I expect us to do really well in the cups.

“I won the Reading Senior twice with Wokingham & Emmbrook and it’s a great day and a chance to play at a really good stadium (Madejski Stadium).

“We’ve had a few disappointing results in the league, although it’s been small margins, and it’s probably a little bit away from us now.” He added: “We have got to be realistic, we aren’t going to win the league, but we will have a big say in who does.

“We will be trying to finish as high as possible, but the cups are our best chance of silverware.” The Moles boss lavished praise on his side following the destruction of Bracknell, with Callum Whitty, Adam Dickens and an unfortunate Garry Aulsberry own goal putting the hosts in control before substitute Josh Pearson added a late brace.

Herridge said: “Bracknell were in really good form and I know (manager) Keith (Pennicott-Bowen) well, I’ve got a lot of time for him and I know it will really hurt.

“We knew they would be up for it, but I had a feeling before the game we would play well.

“I thought we were better and I felt if it wasn’t for (goalkeeper) Garry (Aulsberry), at half-time it would have been more than 2-0.

“He had a fantastic game. In the second half we pushed on really well and created some good opportunities.

“I would say in terms of a full 90 minutes, that was about as well as we have played all season.” He continued: “We have got to keep it going. We have got a nice mix of youth and experience and we’ve got some great players on the bench which is a problem we have never had before.

“You know you’ve got a good squad when you can leave a player like Ian Davies on the bench.” Binfield visit Ascot United in the league for a second derby in eight days this Saturday (3pm).

And Herridge is expecting a tight encounter: “I’m sure Ascot will look at their position in the league and, like us, think they should be doing a bit better.

“But they’re a really good side with really good players and we know we’ll have to play well. I’m sure it will be a good game.”
