Harry Swabey netted twice for the home side whilst Jamal Stewart grabbed two goals of his own for Rayners Lane.

It was a pulsating game that saw the visitors fight back from 2-0 down to lead in the closing stages, before Swabey netted to seal a point that both sides will probably be content with.

Jon Laugharne’s men went into the game knowing a win would move them above their opponents and up to fifth in Hellenic Division One East.

Finch were fired up and it didn’t take long for them to take the lead as Swabey flicked the ball into the net wit h less than two minutes gone.

Richard Kell has supplied the killer pass and he turned goalscorer 20 minutes later as Finch extended their lead as a good team move gave Kell a simple finish from close range.

Ryan Tye then went close to extending the home side’s lead to three goals but he couldn’t find the target from close range.

Finch were performing well and dominating the game but a sucker punch arrived before half-time as the visitors reduced the arrears.

Dan Tomlin’s cross beat everyone in a Finch shirt and Stewart was on hand to poke the ball past Tom Bryant in the home goal.

It was the last thing Finch needed before half-time and it cost them dearly at the start of the second-half as concentration levels were low as Rayners drew level in the 53rd minute.

Jordan Robison ran forward unchallenged and his effort just beat Bryant to level the score.

The comeback was complete in the 68th minute when Stewart fired home his second goal of the game to put Rayners Lane on course for victory.

Finch could barely believe they were behind but found the character to reply through Swabey’s second goal as he headed past Rayners Lane goalkeeper Craig McCreeth.

With both sides having had the lead at various points in the game, both seemed to settle for a point and there wasn’t much action in the closing stages.

Finch host Didcot Town on Saturday (3pm) in Hellenic Division One East.
