The Moles travelled to Oxfordshire looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat at Hill Farm Lane earlier this season, but they fell to a similar defeat.

It had been an even start to proceedings, but the game changed when Binfield centre back Garry Callaway was sent off after challenging Ryan Curtin in the 25th minute.

Callaway was adjudged to have fouled the stumbling home striker when the last man and the referee brandished a red card to put the Moles up against it.

The foul took place outside the box so there was no double blow for the Moles, who survived the resulting free-kick.

Binfield continued to battle and had chances of their own through a Dave Woozley header that clipped the post with the home keeper beaten.

Alex Luis then had a free-kick that just went over the bar, but Kidlington used their numerical advantage to create chances of their own.

Curtin forced Dan Weait into a wonderful save with his feet, before Tom Franklin’s bullet header missed by inches.

The second-half started in the same way, with chances at either end, before the referee levelled up proceedings by issuing a red card to the hosts to make it 10 against 10.

Ian Davies saw his cute lob saved at full stretch by home keeper Mike Bawn, when he looked to have put enough on it to break the deadlock.

It was looking like a stalemate until Tommy Castle fired home a great individual goal in the 75th minute to put Kidlington ahead.

He controlled the ball on the edge of the box and spun at once, firing into the top right-hand corner.

It was a goal worthy of winning any game, but Kidlington had a second goal to make things more comfortable in the 80th minute.

The Moles failed to clear their lines from a free-kick and when Castle was tripped in the area, the referee pointed to the spot.

Lewis Brownhill picked himself up to fire past Weait and seal victory for Kidlington, condemning the Moles to their first defeat in eight.

Roger Herridge’s side now sit fourth in Hellenic Premier Division, seven points off league leaders Highmoor Ibis.

Binfield travel to Brackley Town Development in the Challenge Cup on Saturday (3pm).
