Herridge and Moles manager Mark Tallentire have worked throughout the summer to attract new signings, and they are happy with their squad as the new Hellenic Premier Division season got under way this week.

Binfield started their campaign with a 6-1 win against Wootton Bassett Town on Saturday, but then lost 3-2 at home to Oxford City Nomads on Monday.

The Moles have lost Dan Rapley and Alex Lawton, but replaced them with a string of impressive signings such as Dave Woozley, Ian Davies, Jack Broome, Adam Dickens and Josh Warren.

And Herridge is confident that the players recruited have resulted in Binfield having a stronger squad for the new season.

“We’ve made some fantastic signings,” beamed the Binfield assistant.

“Dave Woozely joining a club of our stature is a major coup. He sees it as a challenge. He’s not come down here to go through the motions.

“He’s a top bloke with a fantastic reputation and I think we can all learn from him. He’s been at a professional level and he’s got a lot of qualities as a player and as a person.

“We’ve added Dickens and Davies who scored nearly 70 goals between them last season.

“At times last year we didn’t score enough goals, but we’ve moved to rectify that and are confident we have done so.

“We’ve also added quality in Broome who has got a lot of ability about him. He’s very versatile, techinically good and strong on the ball.

“Warren is another that I saw when he was at Wokingham youth. I chanced my arm this summer and he agreed to come. He’s so comfortable with the ball at his feet and is a joy to watch.

“I’d say the squad is stronger than last year. We’ve got experience, but also a blend of youth players that showed they are capable towards the end of the season.” Binfield finished fifth in the Hellenic Premier last season following a strong end to the year that saw them climb from mid-table, where they had spent most of the campaign.

Herridge believes that aiming beyond fifth place is a realistic ambition, as well as hoping for success in the cup.

“We want to do well in the FA Vase, and winning a few games in the FA Cup to bring money in would be great.

“If we can win a cup and finish in the top three we’ll be happy. It’ll be hard and it’ll be a competetive league, but we’ll hopefully be up there and we’re excited for it.”
