On a glorious afternoon at Alfredian Park, the Robins failed to turn up as their opponents controlled the game from start to finish.

It was a game between two sides that were next to each other in the Hellenic Premier Division, but there was a gulf in class from start to finish as Bracknell looked tired and second-best in every department..

In a first-half that lacked many real chances, Brimscombe took the lead in the 11th minute when Karl Nash's tame effort deceived Dan Smith in the Bracknell goal and put Brimscombe ahead.

The Robins were poor and lacked any spark as they sought their way back into the game.

It was a performance that Bracknell's fans were not accustomed too lately as the Robins were lethargic and struggled for ideas.

The Larges Lane outfit had been in good form in the previous months – losing just three games in 16 matches – but they failed to show any of their quality on Saturday.

As the second-half started, Bracknell came out looking to get on the front foot immediately but were vulnerable at the back as Brimscombe looked for a killer second goal.

The Robins' best chance came minutes after the restart when Tom Williams released Martin Bradshaw one-on-one with the Brimscombe keeper.

As Bradshaw struck the ball across the keeper it looked like the Robins were level but it agonisingly clipped the post and went wide.

But that was as good as it got for Bracknell as a quick-fire double all but ended their hopes of cup success.

Ben Snook received the ball 25 yards out after a clever one-two and he wasn't closed down which allowed him to drive the ball home off the left-hand post to give Brimscombe a second goal.

Nash then converted his second of the game from the penalty spot after David Woodfield was brought down in the box.

An off the ball incident at a free-kick saw both sides reduced to 10 men towards the end as Bracknell's Harry Brown and Brimscombe's Jonny Davis saw red.

And Alvin Nurse completed the scoring late on as he stabbed home from a late Brimscombe attack to put the final nail in the coffin of Bracknell's cup hopes.

The Robins have a chance to bounce back on Tuesday evening with a Reading Senior Cup clash against Wokingham & Emmbrook at Larges Lane (7.45pm ko).

The winner will face Finchampstead at the Madejski Stadium later this month.
