Yellamen had beaten the Moles by the same 1-0 scoreline at Hill Farm Lane in December.

And they repeated the trick on Tuesday when a Joe Yeates goal secured all three points for title-chasing Ascot.

The win left third-placed Yellamen seven points adrift of leaders Ardley United and six behind Wantage Town.

But Ascot have games in hand and still play both teams before the end of the season.

On Tuesday night Binfield’s recent struggles up front let them down again.

Moles started brightly with James Rusby firing over Chris Grace’s crossbar.

But the hosts grew in confidence and Yates issued a warning when he headed wide.

Jemel Johnson then wasted a decent chances for Binfield when his deflected shot was saved by Grace.

It proved a costly miss as Ascot scored the decisive goal soon after when Yeates beat Callum Whitty in the air to nod home from a Rob Saunders corner.

Moles, to their credit, dominated most of the second period as United defended their lead.

But in-form Seb Bowerman and Rusby could find no way past Grace and Ascot held on to claim all three points and boost their title hopes.
