That was the upbeat message from joint boss Steve Nebbett after Martin Bradshaw’s goal secured Robins’ first win of 2014 on Saturday.

Bracknell had not won a Hellenic Premier match since November 20 when they edged out Oxford City Nomads in a nine-goal thriller.

Like all local teams, their schedule has been decimated by recent flooding and last weekend’s win was their first in six league matches and delivered three much-needed points towards their safety target.

If Robins can maintain those standards until the end of the season they are certain to climb the table, as Nebbett explained: “We were magnificent. The wind was a big factor in the first half and we did well to contain Thame.

“But it was all us in the second half. We could have scored a few more goals and it was a great result.

“People probably didn’t believe me when I said we could go there and win but we did it.

“If we keep playing like that the sky is the limit.” He added: “I had a chat to the players at half-time and told them it was time to deliver.

“There’s no point being a good side if you aren’t getting results. We’re in a dog fight, we’re not safe. We need to show more fight and we did that on Saturday.

“We’ve had an up and down season but we’ve got players coming back from injury now and we’re looking stronger.” Robins, with Sam Whiting in the starting line-up after returning to the club from Marlow, battled hard against the sun, wind and a pumped-up Thame to finish the first half on level terms.

But Bracknell turned on the style after the break, hitting the woodwork twice before Bradshaw slotted home the winner with 10 minutes to go to avenge their 4-0 home defeat by Thame in October.

“The workrate, belief and effort was superb,” beamed Nebbett. “When they play like that they can beat anyone.

“We’ve been playing well now without getting the results. But one win can make a big difference and we’re hoping to push on.” Bracknell now make their long-awaited return to Larges Lane when they host Oxford City Nomads this Saturday (3pm ko).

It is Robins’ first home fixture since a 1-0 defeat to Wantage Town on December 28 and the first of four home games in the next five.

The last encounter between the sides in November went 5-4 in Bracknell’s favour, though Nebbett quipped: “One-nil will do for me.

“The night we beat them it didn’t look good for us. It was lashing with rain and we only had two subs. But we stuck together and fought hard for the victory.

“But we know Oxford have plenty of pace and we’ve got to be well organised.” * LIAM Alleyne has been voted Bracknell Town’s Think Ford January Player of the Month.

Joint-managers Danny Oliphant and Steve Nebbett nominated Alleyne, Sam Barratt and Shane Cooper-Clark for the award and supporters voted Alleyne the winner in an online poll.

He will receive his award before kick-off this Saturday.
