IT WILL take an excellent performance from the whole team if Binfield are to make the fourth round of the FA Vase, according to manager Mark Tallentire.

The Moles are up against Larkhall Athletic who are second in the Western Football League Premier Division and unbeaten after 17 games.

Despite their Bath opponents being the in-form side, Tallentire, left, is ‘quietly confident’ the Moles can get a result at Hill Farm Lane on Saturday.

He told the News: “We’re under no illusions. I’ve seen Larkhall play and they’re a decent side.

“They’re used to winning games, they’ve only lost twice this season. They’re strong at set pieces so that’s something we’ll address.” However, he said: “We’ve got to put Monday out of our minds. We’ve got home advantage and we’re quietly confident that we can do the job on them, but the team has to perform.

“I feel we’ve got players that can capitalise on their weaknesses, if we can perform to the best of our abilities.

“It will be a stiff test. We have to play for 90 minutes.” Larkhall, managed by Wayne Thorne, progressed to round three after beating Newport IOW 2-0, while the Moles overcame Brimscombe & Thrupp 3-0.

There is all to play for at Hill Farm Lane with a place in the last 32 at stake, when the competition enters its national phase.

“Saturday’s massive for us,” stressed Tallentire.

“When you look at Ascot United and how fantastically well they did, we would like to do the same.

“I’ve always enjoyed staying in the cups. It prolongs your season and gives other players a chance.” The Moles welcome back Garry Callaway, Carl Withers, Alex Walton and James Suarez for Saturday’s clash, but Dan Rapley is a major doubt.
