ASCOT United boss Jeff Lamb is ready to cement his place in the history books this weekend.

The Yellamen's superb FA Vase adventure continues at Newport Isle of Wight this Saturday, after they dispatched of Borrowash Victoria in last weekend's fourth round tie.

It was a first for the club as Ascot had never even reached the fourth round before.

Now they are through to the fifth round - and a plum 'overseas' adventure awaits Lamb, his players and an army of travelling supporters.

Lamb told the News: "I'm really proud. We've made history for the club and the players deserve it.

"It's the furthest I've ever got in the FA Vase. The players have done really well, it was a really good team performance at Borrowash.

"It was a long day but very enjoyable, and these are the times you want to make the most of. It doesn't happen every year.

"The next game can't come quick enough. We want to continue our form and we're really looking forward to the next round. It's going to be a terrific atmosphere."
