WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook's Tom Hopper hopes another season-long cup run can be a springboard to further success in the league.

The imposing centre-back was at the heart of the defence as Satsumas saw off Newbury 2-0 in the Berks & Bucks Cup on Tuesday evening.

Matt Witrylak and George Dance netted the goals in the second half that keep Wokingham alive in three cup competitions this season.

"It's good to be in the cups and try and get on a run, then to have that all the way through the season, it pushes you on like it did for us last year," Hopper told the News.

"If you are in mid-table come February then there's not really that much to play for. However, having a cup gives you that extra bit of motivation and pushes the squad forward."
