BRACKNELL Town are refusing to look too far ahead despite another boost to their promotion hopes.

Robins' chances of winning Hellenic Division One East further improved on Saturday when leaders Rayners Lane suffered their second defeat on the spin.

Rayners started the season like a house on fire but have since come unstuck in back-to-back losses to Headington Amateurs and now Maidenhead United Reserves.

It means Bracknell, with five wins in six league matches, can go top of the table should they win their games in hand.

However, with Robins a staggering six games behind Rayners, it remains a tall order for Nebbett and Danny Oliphant's troops.

And for now, Nebbett is sticking to the oldest footballing cliche of them all - 'one game at a time.'

Speaking exclusively to the News he declared: "They're only cliches because they're true. It's one game at a time for us, we can't look too fa-r ahead.

"To be honest, I'm not too worried about what anyone else does. We've got enough to worry about at Bracknell in terms of working hard and coaching the players, but it's coming together."

Nevertheless, Robins will have welcomed the news of Rayners' latest setback, given they are the only side to have beaten Bracknell in the league this season.

And while Rayners were unfortunate to lose to a Maidenhead United Reserves side boasting a string of first-team players, Nebbett has little sympathy.

"I believe they were a bit unlucky because they caught Maidenhead United on the wrong night when they had a few first-team players in," he explained.

"That's why this league is so unpredictable and I'm sure there will be plenty more twists to come.

"When we played Didcot Town Reserves we were lucky because it was their reserves team. Saying that, we've still got to play Maidenhead and who knows what team we will meet."

And Nebbett also stressed: "When we lost to Rayners Lane it was a bad day for us because it was early in the season and we didn't have many players back then, so you could say we were unlucky.

"But things are different now I'd love to play them again with our best side out."

Bracknell host Hellenic Premier side Newbury at Larges Lane in the Reading Senior Cup this Saturday (3pm), with Nebbett promising to play his strongest side.

"We've just got to carry on what we've been doing," he stated. "We've won three on the spin with the same boys so we won't be changing much.

"We've got nothing to lose really so we will play our strongest team. I think we're a better side when we play better opposition."
