Stars set to return to honour Edwards

BRACKNELL Town stars past and present will be turning out in force next month to celebrate the career of one of the club"s most committed stalwarts.

Ben Edwards has been a part of the Robins furniture for 10 years now and the event will be marked with a testimonial between a Bracknell Town All Star XI and Aldershot Town All Star XI.

Organiser Neil Baker, Edwards" long serving team-mate at Bracknell, is hoping the game will attract a crowd of over 500.

He said: 'It"s all shaping up to be a great day. Aldershot have been great, I"ve got a good relationship with their manager and chairman so they are advertising it well.

'We"re hoping to have a good crowd down for it. We"re trying to get as many people involved as we can.

'It would be great if we could get 500 down for it, that"s my aim. Anything more than that would be a nice bonus.'

Baker added: 'Ben certainly deserves this. If the club hadn"t have done something on his behalf it would have been poor.

'So fair play to them for recognising all the effort he"s put in over the years.'

Bracknell"s squad for the clash includes the likes of Jon Underwood, Stuart Hammonds, Danny Hayward, Gavin Smith, Adam Crittenden and Richard Whitty. It will be managed by Alan Taylor and Mark Tallentire.

The game kicks off at 1pm on Sunday, August 9th. Entry is expected to be £5 and £2.50 and the Community Shield will be shown in the bar.
