IAN Davies fired home a stoppage-time goal to earn Binfield a 2-1 win at Brackley Town Saints on Saturday.

It was his second of the game, taking the striker’s tally to 29 goals for the season, the sixth highest in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

The Moles had to come from behind after conceding a goal with eight minutes gone.

“They scored on the break, but it was an even first half,” said manager Roger Herridge.

His side dominated the second half, but were guilty of missing chances before Davies headed in a 66th-minute equaliser.

Herridge introduced his substitutes with Zidan Akers making a “real impact” and for the rest of the game it was largely one-way traffic.

Another replacement was Sanchez Commock, a new signing from Highmoor Ibis.

Binfield eventually sealed victory in the third minute of stoppage time when man-of-the-match Davies was first to react after the ball had come back off the crossbar.

It was sixth-placed Binfield’s 10th away league win of the season, one more than they have so far recorded at home.

But they will be seeking to make it 10 at Hill Farm Lane when they host title-chasing and FA Vase finalists Thatcham on Saturday (3pm). It will mean a return to Binfield for their former hot-shot Liam Ferdinand.

Binfield lost to their Berkshire rivals 3-1 in the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup quarter finals last Tuesday, Harry Laflin’s 22nd-minute strike not enough for the visitors.

The Moles, who were due to visit Windsor last night (Tuesday), take on relegation-threatened Highmoor Ibis at Rivermoor Stadium on Monday (7.45pm ko).

Rob Lazarczuk scored the only goal of the game as Ascot United all but secured their Premier Division safety with a 1-0 home win against Longlevens on Saturday.

Ascot United were due to host Brackley Town Saints last night, before visiting Lydney Town on Saturday (3pm).

Jake White scored a hat-trick and Ben Broadhurst got the other goal as Wokingham & Emmbrook beat Sandhurst Town 4-3 in Division One East.

Sumas host Holyport on Saturday (3pm), while Sandhurst Town are at home to Milton United.

Joseph Pantony and Brad Brown netted for Eversley & California, but they were beaten 4-2 by Bedfont & Feltham in Division One of the Combined Counties League.

The Boars were due to visit Bagshot last night, before visiting Raynes Park Vale on Saturday (3pm). Eversley complete a busy week at home to Badshot Lea next Tuesday (7.45pm).
