WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook took their goal tally to 12 in two games with an excellent 4-1 win away to Didcot Town Reserves in Hellenic Division 1 East, writes Dave Wright.

But the Sumas had to come from behind with their hosts taking the lead through Ross MacDonald. They also rattled the crossbar with a long-range shot., while keeper Sam Woodward also pulled off a smart save.

However, the visitors also had their chances with Elliott Rushforth having an effort blocked and Josh Pearson seeing his effort smothered by the goalkeeper.

The pressure paid off as by half-time they were 3-1 ahead.

A superb delivery by Ben Broadhurst was volleyed home by George Marsh and then Josh Lawrence charged down the keeper’s clearance to put them ahead with James Charlton heading home a corner for the third goal.

Sumas, who had Joe Commuskey making his full debut in defence, went even further ahead when a superb move involving Lawrence, Carter and Pearson led to Rushforth driving in a rebound.

Pearson was denied another goal by the goalie, while Didcot had a chance to pull one back when they were awarded a penalty, only for Woodward to save the spot kick. They also had a goal ruled out for offside and scorer MacDonald sent off following two yellow cards.

Sumas move back to fourth in the table, five points behind the team immediately above them, Penn & Tylers Green, but 17 points adrift of Bicester, the side they face at Lowther Road this Saturday (2pm ko) with three games in hand.
