BINFIELD manager Roger Herridge was disappointed to see his side held to a 2-2 draw by Tuffley Rovers, although still praised his players for fighting back in the second half, writes Dave Wright.

“Having earned a great point at Thatcham last week, a lot of people were expecting us to win,” Herridge admitted after Saturday’s game.

“But it was a difficult afternoon for football because of the conditions, with the wind swirling around a bit.

“We got our noses in front, but we made two errors and they cost us two goals.

“But Tuffley are a better side than their league position (14th) shows. They have got some decent players and their No. 9 (Shayne Bradley) was a handful.”

Moles had taken a fifth-minute lead, but 12 minutes later the visitors equalised through Warren Mann and then Kieran Alder put them ahead in the 25th minute.

“Despite being behind at half time, we didn’t let our heads go down,” added Herridge.

“In the second half we passed the ball better and created lots of chances. Their keeper kept them in the game.”

Binfield’s equaliser came after 52 minutes when Josh Howell’s free-kick was deflected in.

With Henry Craven away, Matt Hill took over in goal, having hours earlier flown back from New York, where he got engaged.

There is a chance that Herridge could strengthen his squad with one or two new signings before their home game with Brackley Town Saints this Saturday.

The match will mark the official opening of the club’s new changing block and their modified club house.
