NEW signing Joe Grant is set to face his brother, Alfie, should he make his Hellenic League debut for Binfield at Wantage next Tuesday, writes Dave Wright.

Both Grants played for Highmoor Ibis last season, but have now decided to switch to different clubs with former Oxford United youngster Alfie going to Alfredian Park.

Moles are delighted to sign the hard-working Joe, describing the forward as a player with huge potential.

But he should not be confused with his namesake, Joe Grant, who plays for neighbours Bracknell Town.

Manager Roger Herridge has also acquired several other players, including Josh Blackwood, who has played for a number of club locally, saying he is an “exciting talent with so much potential.”

Striker Danny Langford has also joined the Moles from Newbury where he was top scorer last season following an earlier spell with Thatcham Town.

Among those who have recently re-signed are striker Brad Pagliaroli and Harry Lee.

Meanwhile, Binfield were beaten 2-1 at Camberley in a friendly last Saturday.

Mark Jordan’s fine second-half header brought the scores level, only for Scott Crow to snatch a late winner for the Krooner Park men.

Binfield then lost 3-0 at Sandhurst on Tuesday night with goals from Kylo Atkinson, Freddie Barron and Richard Hughes giving Fizzers their fifth win in a row.

Moles were also humbled 5-1 by National League South side Hungerford Town on Thursday night in their Southern Premier side first game at the refurbished Hill Farm Lane ground, which includes new dressing rooms and a larger bar area.

Then on Saturday the Moles play Combined Counties League side Knaphill at the Chobham Buryfield ground (3pm).
