ROGER Herridge admitted Bracknell possessed “that extra bit of quality” after seeing his Binfield side beaten in the Berks & Bucks Trophy final, writes Dave Wright.

And the Moles manager could well have been hitting the repeat button for it was the third time this season they had lost a cup tie to their local rivals. Their two Hellenic League fixtures also went Bracknell’s way.

Herridge said the final had been “very familiar to the four games we have had previously with them.”

He added: “I am still proud of my players. We were slow to start and perhaps looked a bit nervous, but we grew into the game and at 0-0 at half time I was reasonably happy.

“I thought we improved in the second half and we had a great chance to score when Ferdy (Liam Ferdinand) got in behind them just before they went ahead. As for the first goal, there might have been a foul on (Jeff) Brown, but if you give TJ (Bohane) opportunities in one-on-ones, he is more likely to score than not.”

Herridge was also unhappy with the way Bracknell were awarded a late penalty to kill off the game.

He said: “A referee can be 10 yards from play and not give it, but the lino who is 35 yards away from play can give it.

“I am not taking anything away from my team, but I thought over the 90 minutes they (Bracknell) were worthy winners. They had that extra bit of quality.”

Binfield start as favourites in their Reading Senior Cup semi-final at home to Thames Valley Premier League side Woodcote Stoke Row tonight (Wednesday) 7.45pm kick-off.
