BINFIELD FC set up a Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy final against neighbours Bracknell Town with a magnificent 6-3 win at Newport Pagnell Town on Saturday.

The Moles made a bright start and took an early lead as Sean Moore pounced on a slip in defence before going on to score with a fine finish. Binfield continued to dominate for the remainder of the half with Joe Purcell pulling off three good saves to keep the visitors at bay.

However, the ball fell kindly for Liam Ferdinand in added time, and the prolific striker gratefully cracked the ball home to double the lead going into the break.

A crazy seven-minute period early in the second period saw the teams trade goals for fun as both sides netted twice.

Grant Kemp started the goal frenzy when he calmly slotted under the advancing Purcell, but two minutes later Sam O’Neill was on target for the hosts as he scored with a neat turn and chip over Liam Vaughan from 20 yards.

The Moles responded when Ferdinand slipped the ball through to James Knight to score, although not to be outdone, the Swans responded again as Adam Pryke set up Dom Lawless who neatly slotted the ball home at the near post.

Newport pushed for another goal to get back into the game, but were caught on the break as Luke Hayden scored Binfield’s fifth.

The Swans scored again in the 80th minute after Vaughan palmed Remy Forrester’s shot straight to Luke Emery who made no mistake from close range.

Ferdinand found himself in space and snaffled his second as Roger Herridge’s men completed the victory late on, setting up a mouth-watering final.

Binfield host Royal Wootton Bassett in the Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).
