FINCHAMPSTEAD FC secured their fourth win on the bounce in Hellenic League Division One East with a 2-1 victory at Holyport on Saturday.
The win at Summerleaze followed successes against Bicester Town, Didcot Town Reserves and Rayners Lane and leaves Jon Laugharne’s men sixth in the table, level on points with Aldermaston.
Holyport, meanwhile, continue to struggle and remain one place off the bottom of the table.
Finch got off to a bright start with Danny Blatchford heading narrowly wide.
But Holyport took a 33rd minute lead when Paul Rake rounded returning Finch keeper Neil Griffiths and slotted home.
Finch responded with Blatchford forcing a decent save from Frank Attwell then Sam Dunn was a whisker away from levelling on the stroke of half time.
The chances kept coming for Finch after the break with skipper Adam Barnard, Garry Callaway and Blatchford all going close.
The pressure finally paid off when Harry Swabey equalised in the 58th minute with a smart finish and then grabbed his second of the game five minutes later to put the visitors 2-1 in front.
Holyport refused to give in but were denied a second goal when Griffiths denied Thomas Attrell.
However, Finch also had further chances to increase their lead which neither Swabey nor Blatchford were able to take.
