WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook dropped to 12th in the Hellenic League Division One East table after they were beaten 4-2 at home by high-flying Headington Amateurs on Saturday.

Sumas began well and Elliot Rushforth, Sam Lawrence and Jake Wheeler all tested Headington goalkeeper Harry Jenkins early on, only for the visitors to ride the storm and go in front themselves when Ben Green’s free-kick was collected by Luke Cuff and his cross was superbly volleyed into the roof of the net by Drew Fowler in the 37th minute.

Two minutes later the visitors doubled their lead when Carl Bloomfield rifled a shot from 16 yards past Sean Woodward.

Things got even worse for Wokingham early in the second half when Cuff made it 3-0, although Sumas gave themselves a lifeline on 60 minutes when Lawrence converted a right-wing cross from 12 yards.

However, Bloomfield put the game to bed with six minutes remaining and Rushforth’s late strike was merely a consolation.

  • FINCHAMPSTEAD fell victim to a Kai Parton-Edey hat-trick as they lost 3-1 at home to AFC Aldermaston, Jon Malone bagging an 84th-minute consolation for the home side.

Ninth-placed Finchampstead host table-topping Penn & Tylers Green at the Memorial Ground this Saturday (3pm).

  • RICHARD Hughes scored twice and Charlie Horwood was also on target as Sandhurst Town won 3-2 at Cirencester Town Development.

The Fizzers visit Wantage Town Reserves on Saturday (3pm).

  • BOBBY Hogg and Lewis Robson netted as Eversley & California overcame Sheerwater 2-1 in their Combined Counties League Division One tie on Saturday.

The Boars were due to visit Knaphill in the Aldeshot Senior Cup last night, before visiting to Chessington & Hook United on Saturday (3pm). Eversley then visit Walton & Hersham in the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
