EVERSLEY & California returned to winning ways with a 4-1 Hampshire Senior Cup success at home to Fareham Town on Tuesday night.

However, The Boars' encouraging start to the Combined Counties League Division One season was abruptly ended as they were hammered 7-1 at Balham on Saturday.

Eversley actually made a solid start and took the lead midway through the first half courtesy of a Matt Griffiths (pictured above) strike, but things went downhill rapidly from there.

James Adebayo scored a fantastic solo goal two minutes later to level, with the striker picking the ball up just inside the Eversley half, running through all those between him and the goal before smashing the ball home.

The second half was a nightmare for Eversley as the hosts blasted in six unanswered goals, Adebayo, Jerome Boncoeur, an own goal, Josh Benson and substitute, Morgan Roberts-Watson (two), doing the damage.

Eversley welcome Banstead Athletic to the ESA Sports Ground in the league on Saturday (3pm).
